Trojan Kill Switches In Military Technology

with one comment

Straight from the Slashdot: “The New York Times reports in this week’s Science section that hardware and software trojan kill switches in military devices are an increasing concern, and may have already been used. ‘A 2007 Israeli Air Force attack on a suspected, partly-constructed Syrian nuclear reactor led to speculation about why the Syrian air defense system did not respond to the Israeli aircraft. Accounts of the event initially indicated that sophisticated jamming technology was used to blind the radars. Last December, however, a report in an American technical publication, IEEE Spectrum, cited a European industry source in raising the possibility that the Israelis might have used a built-in kill switch to shut down the radars. Separately, an American semiconductor industry executive said in an interview that he had direct knowledge of the operation and that the technology for disabling the radars was supplied by Americans to the Israeli electronic intelligence agency, Unit 8200.’”

  1. And this is why I don’t think the unmanned drones like the Predator are the wave of the future. Eventually, either we’ll have to fight a more technological advanced oppenent then Al-Queda or Al-Queda will up their warfare to cyber-warfare. Either way, it will be to easy to either reprogram or simply tell the drones to “shut off” by an oppenent.

And no, I don’t think the USA will ever get in a war with China. Who will China attack…Russia? Yeah, ask Napolean and Hitler how smart of any idea THAT is. I think unless you’re nuking the entire country, you’re wasting your time attacking the Russians. Cause those SOB’s aren’t nessacarily the brightest people when it comes to freedom, but they damn sure are stubborn and tough.

Vietnam? Laos? There’s nothing there to begin with! So why would they bother invading those countries?

In the future, either the USA will become somewhat irrelevant like the European powers of France, Germany, and the Brits, or China will fold in on itself before such a war would happen. Remember in the 80’s how everyone thought Japan would just buy up the entire world? What happened to them? Their economy tanked and they can’t so much as rent a trailer in Redneck-Ville’s local trailer park. Same thing will happen to either China or USA before too long. And with the way President Obama is taking us, its going to be the USA that folds first.
