Obama campaign workers angry over unpaid wages
“Indianapolis – Lines were long and tempers flared Wednesday not to vote but to get paid for canvassing for Barack Obama. Several hundred people are still waiting to get their pay for last-minute campaigning. Police were called to the Obama campaign office on North Meridian Street downtown to control the crowd.
The line was long and the crowd was angry at times.
“I want my money today! It’s my money. I want it right now!” yelled one former campaign worker.
A former spokesman for the Obama campaign said 375 people were hired as part of the Vote Corps program and said people signed up to work three-hour shifts at a time. Three hours of canvassing got workers a $30 pre-paid Visa card.
The workers showed up to get their cards Wednesday morning at 10:00 am.
“There was a note on the door saying 1:00 pm and then at 1:20 pm everybody was like why is nobody here. They just got here and they’re trying to get it organized,” said Heather Richards, a former campaign worker.
The large gathering of around 375 people prompted police to call in extra officers and set up temporary barricades. The barricades helped keep the crowd from spilling out onto Meridian Street. Police say the several hundred people in line were for the most part orderly.
“No arrests. Some of the people were upset at first because the line wasn’t moving as fast as they thought it should. But we really haven’t had any problems,” said Major Darryl Pierce, Metro Police.
Eventually people did start getting paid, but some said they were missing hours and told to fill in paperwork making their claim and that eventually they would get a check in the mail.
“Still that’s not right. I’m disappointed. I’m glad for the president, but I’m disappointed in this system,” said Diane Jefferson, temporary campaign worker.
“It should have been $480. It’s $230,” said Imani Sankofa.
“They gave us $10 an hour. So we added it. I added up all the hours so it was supposed to be at least $120. All I get is $90,” said Charles Martin.
“I worked nine hours a day for 4 days and got paid half of what I should have earned,” said Randall Waldon.
Some people weren’t satisfied with filling out a claim form for money they felt was still due to them.
“They say that they gonna call you or they going to mail it to you, but I don’t know. We’ll see what happens,” said Antron Grose.
“Talking about they’ll mail it to us. I ain’t worried about that, man. They’re not going to mail nothin’,” said Martin.”
Wow. That’s kind of amazing. But I’ll bet you won’t hear anything of this story on CNN or such except for a VERY QUICK blurb at 2 in the morning.
Well, they wanted “change” and they got it. That little tingle of fear of moving towards a Communist government is starting to creap back in.
Funny though, for a guy who ran so strongly on anything but politics as usual, he’s surrounding himself with all the typical Washington types…whites and a lot of them are from the old Clinton Administration. I know that now we’re suppose to be “color blind”, but so far, every member of his new administration is white. You’d think he’d have a broth’a or a Latino or an Asian somewhere in there. Hell, the “Evil Satan” George W. Bush had a vastly more diverse administration. Is this Obama’s administration or is there somebody/somebodies who just used Obama as a front to get a hold of the office?

Well, so much for darn near every conspiracy theory that’s been voiced in the past 7 years about President George Bush. For if President Bush really did steal those elections and was responsible for the jets flying into the Twin Towers, John McCain would have won the Presidential election. I mean, he was suppose to be the “Third Term Of George Bush”, wasn’t he? He shouldn’t have been able to lose, right?
But behold! The Annointed ONE, Barrack Hussien Obama has been elected President of the United States of America. Talk about a large amount of egg on the face of a hell of a lot of people. WOW!!
With the election results of November 4th, pretty much every conspiracy theory made up in the last 7 years has gone right out the window. And every person who thought them up, voiced them, and beleived in them have been shown to be the complete and total idiots that they are.
Oh, Bush and Company were strong enough to steal the elections in 2000 and 2004 AND were staged the 9/11 Attacks…yet somehow they lost that “power” to win the 2008 election? Hell, one would think they would have perfected the art of “stealing the election” by 2008 where they would have won by a landslide! But alas…the Republican candidate lost and the candidate with the more Socialist/Communist leanings won. How about that?
Looks like all you retards were wrong about all those “conspiracy theory’s” and “American Empire” shitte. So what else are you tards wrong about? Might you be wrong about other stuff? Guess we’ll have to wait and see.
I almost feel sorry for the press and comedians though. I mean for the mainstream media, bashing George Bush is all they’ve done for the past 8 years. Can they write anything else? And the comedians. How many jokes have been told about George Bush? Hell, even in Cliton’s days the likes of Leno and Lettermen cracked jokes about President Clinton. But can they crack jokes about Obama? Will they crack the jokes when President-Elect Obama is in office? Should be interesting.

If you truly believe in small, frugal, non-intrusive government (as I happen to do), seriously how can you still defend the GOP. The party has been taken over by zealots, anti-intellectuals and populists that care more about staying in power than anything else.
And this bullshit about how the country now suddenly is supposed to go communist, and this bitching at Europeans (where I grew up, and many of my country of origin died and got wounded for the war no-one in Europe wanted – and rightfully so), and all the other FUD just show what a bunch of tards you are. I hope someday republicans will be a viable alternative again, but geez as long as they run spiteful compaigns like they just did, and as long as the only thing I read from the right camp is finger pointing and hating, count me out. Yech.

Would love to hear what you’re referring to when you say “war no-one in Europe wanted”. Is this referencing World War II where America had to send its young men to Europe to die to liberate them from Nazi control? And then, America also had to pay for most of Eastern Europe’s rebuilding? There’s a war that America didn’t want. Or are your referring to the War On Terror where the enemy has bombed Britian, Germany, Spain, and I beleive Italy at one point if I remember correctly. Oh, and those bombings were aimed at the “innocent people born who had no choice but to be born there”. See the enemy knows that the way to truely stop an enemy is to go after its people. They learned that by watching how after Germany and Japan had been leveled during World War II, neither country has so much as spit angerly at anyone. Is there a lesson there, hmmm?
I digress, I must agree that GOP is not what it could be. Choosing the Republicans is more like choosing the lesser of two evils. But they are a better choice then the communist Dems. And yes numbnuts, “distribuiting the wealth” while witholding a large amount for themselves is communist. Take a look at the article above. The American/Capitalist way would have been for the Obama Campaign to pay those people what they had earned. But low and behold, the campaign barely gave them half of what they earned. Under the American/Capitalist system, what they have done is called cheating. But under the Communist/Socialist system, they’re “spreading the wealth”. Yeah, right.
And you didn’t like the republicans because they were, in your opinion, running a spitful campaign? Gee, then you must be the biggest President George W. Bush supporter in the world. Because you want to talk about someone who’s been on the end of a spiteful campaign, there’s your guy. What he’s had to endure over the past 8 years makes what Obama’s been through a cake walk. The press and democrats have called the guy everything from Satan to a baby-killer to Hitler.
You want to talk about hate? What was the Dems reactions to President Bush winning in 2004? They prouldly spoutted their hatred for the man, the Republicans, and the Red “Fly Over States” which elected him. THAT IS HATE. Yet when President-Elect Obama won, we Republicans aren’t spewing how much we hate Obama or how much we hate the rest of the country or saying their stupid. We are living in fear that all of our hard work will be taken from us and even the tiniest sliver of it given to that schlub down the street who’s too lazy to walk to the bathroom to take a piss much less actually get a job.
Oh what am a I talking about here. You’re probably not even American “illy”. So why don’t you shut the hell up, go back to your worrying about your own piss-ant little country politics and mind your own damn business.
