Xbox 360 outsold PS3 in Japan last week
Straight from Joystiq: “Kiss your loved ones, hug your friends, because if this keeps up we’ve reached the end of days — the Xbox 360 outsold the PlayStation 3 last week in Japan. We’ll break down all the numbers in our weekly Japanese hardware sales post later today. For now (while we pack our towels), the Xbox 360 sold 17,673 fueled by (raise an eyebrow) Namco Bandai’s Ace Combat 6: Fires of Liberation, which debuted at the #2 spot behind Super Mario Galaxy.
The PS3 sold 17,434 units compared to Xbox 360′s 17,673, a slight 200 unit separation. But to just give an idea how dramatic the increase in sales was, the previous week Xbox 360 only sold 3,718 units, increasing its sales almost five fold. Repent while you still can.”
This sounds like ballshot to me… Surely the Japanese would stick to their own brand and not fly to the microsoft / american cheaply, poorly made rubbish! this sort of talk is tactical and tries to put people off buying PS3′s and make them buy Xbox360′s, iam not suprised if the person writing this is someone at microsoft right now. PS3 is by far the more superior machine with Blu-ray and free internet, so cut the crap.

And the Japanesse are sticking to their own brand…they’re buying the Wii more then either the Xbox or the PS3.
And the PS3 superior to the XBox? Not from what I hear.

Actually chops, from the little research that I bothered to do(remember, I said “That’s not what I heard”), when you consider that the PS3 came out a full year behind the XBox 360, then you really see how big a disappointment the PS3 is.
Sony had an entire year to better design their platform. Sony should have taken advantage of that year’s gap to make a clearly superior product given how fast the computer industry grows. But Sony didn’t do any of that. Sony made a platform that on its best games, is MAYBE a smidgon better then the 360. Oh, sure the Blu-Ray movie playback capablity is a plus….but only if Blu-Ray wins the Next-Gen Optical Disc “War” versus HD-DVD. If Blu-Ray loses the “War”, then you essentially are stuck with the modern version of the “8-Track Tape Player/Beta Video Format Player”. (Both of these formats lost their “wars” to the normal Tape Player and VHS Video Player)
Personally, I own the Wii, which given my personal life(over 30 years old), is far better then the XBox 360 or PS3. No, spec wise and tech wise the Wii is no match for the PS3. And in those areas including graphics of course, I won’t even attempt to argue that the Wii is superior, because the PS3 kicks the Wii’s ass in those areas. But the Wii has a dozen of easy, fun games that allow me to spend time playing them with my non-serious gamer wife. Even if I’m playing something as silly as Super Mario Galaxy, its fun as hell because I get to play it with my wife. I much perfer to play that game in the living room as opposed to me locking myself in a darkened room and spending the entire night alone playing Assasign’s Creed.
Hop Hop…if you’re under 26 years old, more power to ya. But if you’re over 30 and would rather play an XBox 360 game alone then to play a Wii with a wife or child, then you have my condolunces.

Warren I appreciate the fact that you own a wii because they are awesome, but I’ve always been a serious gamer and loves more realistic games, its just that if your happy with what console you got then there should be no critism towards you. I completely respect the fact you have got a wii and I believe that if i had the choice to get a wii I would get one, …………but my brother likes playing on consoles that give yuo a challenge therefore I had to get a PS3 to please him and me. So I overall have nothing against the Wii and I think that you have the stronger argument against me.

This is actually a true statement. The 360 did outsell the PS3 one week in Japan. funny thing is, its because Ace Combat 6 (a once playstation exclusive) was released and its by Konami. They are of course a japanese company and Ace Combat has always been very popular in Japan. I’m a sony fanboy myself, so this was a little disconcerting to hear,but, of course, Sony came back and tripled its sales the next week, putting the 360 back in its japanese slump. Its a doorstop, nothing more. Sony ftw =)

Patrick, I take it that you like PS3s and I must ask what your true opinion on the Wii and the 360 is, because I don’t think that either of them are up to the hardware standards that the PS3 has. Also the Wii doesn’t have any serious games, but is that bad, of course not its just that its not for serious gamers. So the PS3 does have graphics rule over the Wii and a more realistic game selection. Although the 360 has alot of games it doesn’t mean that it comes out on top, Halo 3 was a gamelife disapointment, but was overall good in the way of graphics. Even though the comments on the other consoles seem ok I still think that the PS3 comes out on top no matter what the reviews.

Thanks for sharing these Xbox 360 thoughts. I’m bookmarking this for future reference.
First we have the Xbox 360 which of course is the next generation in the Xbox line. We also have the Sony PlayStation 3 which is Sony’s newest incarnation of the PlayStation which caused quite a ruckus upon its release, and then we have the Nintendo Wii which on its opening day completely sold out all available units
I am currently on holiday so, for this reason, I’ve nothing better to do than surf the web for Xbox 360 games, lie around and update my blog. Well, more or less anyway. Doug

From what I hear is that the 360 has sold more because its cheap, ’cause my friends that have got 360s were gonna get a PS3 but got a 360 because they couldn’t afford a PS3, so the next time you say whatever on this website, just think about it before you make another comment that makes no sense.

they only buy the xbox because its cheaper and they think microsoft is a bigger computer company and who ever has a xbox is probably just buying it because they heard it from their friends plus the ps3 has blue ray which is far better than the clip on hd dvd drive for the 360. which ever its your choice!
