Straight from Breitbart: “CARACAS, Venezuela (AP) – A glass monument to revolutionary icon Ernesto “Che” Guevara was shot up and destroyed less than two weeks after it was unveiled by Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez’s government.
Images of the 8-foot-tall glass plate bearing Guevara’s image, now toppled and shattered, were shown Friday on state television, which said the entire country “repudiated” the vandalism.
The monument on an Andean mountain highway near the city of Merida was unveiled Oct. 8 by Vice President Jorge Rodriguez and Cuba’s ambassador to Venezuela to mark the 40th anniversary of Guevara’s death.
Chavez venerates Guevara as a model socialist for all Venezuelans. He named a state-funded adult education program “Mission Che Guevara,” and murals of the iconic revolutionary have become a common sight in Venezuela.
Police said they had yet to identify those responsible. The Venezuelan newspaper El Nacional published a copy of what it said was a flier found by the monument signed by the previously unknown “Paramo Patriotic Front.”
“We don’t want any monument to Che, he isn’t an example for our children,” the flier read. It called Guevara a “cold-blooded killer” and said the government should raise a monument in Chavez’s hometown of Sabaneta, in the nearby lowland plains, if it wants to commemorate the Argentine-born revolutionary.
The local mayor, Jesus Maria Espinoza, suggested the vandals came from elsewhere.
“We can’t tolerate people from outside … damaging something that was unveiled with so much happiness, with so much enthusiasm that day,” Espinoza told state television.
The 1.5-inch-thick stele was erected near the top of El Aguila Peak, a popular tourist spot and one of the highest points in Venezuela at 13,143 feet above sea level.
Guevara visited this spot in 1952 during his travels through South America, which he recorded in his diary, before joining the Cuban revolutionary struggle led by Fidel Castro.”
A GLASS monument?!?! That’s a joke, right? Who on earth erects a glass monument to somebody or something? Especially outdoors! I mean heck, it was a race between the Anti-Chavez crowd (which may be bigger then we know. But he can work his way up to where his life is a hell of a lot better then what he had in Mexico. Why else do you think millions of them are trying to get over here? You don’t see that many of them trying to smuggle they’re way into Brazil, now do you?

Remember, I said “No ‘America was responsible for the 9/11 attacks on itself”. Any reasonable, knowledgeable, and intelligent person knows that America’s war against Afghanistan was in response to the 9/11 attacks. And yet here you go with the idea that America wants to build an oil pipeline from Iraq to Afghanistan so that they could sell oil to Europe. Um, if you’ll take a look at a map, you’ll note that there’s this country called IRAN between the two nations in question that might have something to say about that…that was if we actually WANTED to do that. Oh, and the oil in question? We’ve already given the oil rights back to the Iraqi’s. So that kind of shoots that whole theory down. Besides which, in less then a year, we’re going to be governed by an entirely different Administration, not some dictator who claims to have won an election in which he was the only candidate for President in the first place.
In supplying the Afghan rebels fighting the USSR, it was a necessary evil at the time. There’s no way anyone could have known what the rebels would have done a dozen years down the road.
I’m going out on a really big stretch here that you’re actually right on HALF of what you say America did. Even then, I doubt that because of the silly “Pipeline” bit. And I HIGHLY doubt that you are correct on your motivation reasoning there. But anyway…You hate on America for actions that happened more then a decade ago of an agency that the American people themselves have no control over and most American Government officials of that time knew nothing of their actions? Even then, those Administrations are not in power any more. This same America saved the world form Axis Domination during World War 2, spent BILLIONS of dollars to rebuild Europe, has spent BILLIONS more every year in foreign aid to feed people around the world, and is 9 times out of 10, the first country in line to offer major assistance in the case of any tragedy befalls a people, even if we are at odds with that country’s government. Do you think the Roman Empire would have given such aide to their enemy’s? How about Genghis Khan, Napoleon, even the British Empire when they were the height of their power? Do you think they would have offered assistance to countries that they considered a threat to their way of life? Yet America does this time and time again.
America is an anomaly of history in that we are the undisputed power in our region of the world, if not over most of the world itself. And yet, we have not attempted to create a WORLD WIDE empire for ourselves or killed hundreds of thousands of our own population. The Assyrian and Babylonian powers? Attempted to take over all of the Middle East. Alexander the Great, Rome, Genghis Khan? They all did manage to conquer their known worlds at their points in history. The European powers including England, France, Spain, Germany and even the Dutch created their own empires by carving up the America’s, Africa, and South Asia. The Soviet Union and the Communist Regime of China slaughtered hundreds of thousands of their own people in ruling their people with an Iron Fist. Does America have their own “black eyes” in our history like slavery? Yes. But has any country in the history of the world been as or even approach as benevolent as America? We try to learn from these things as a people and do better. Show me a “perfectly clean country” and I’ll show you a country that hasn’t done anything only because they haven’t been able to DO ANYTHING.
Interesting thing when you mentioned Vietnam…almost 40 years later, do you what is booming over there in the Communist Country? Capitalism! Private Ownership! Give them time and the people of Vietnam and possibly China as well will rebel against their Communist Regimes much like the French people did against their King. And what form of government will they create? They’ve just overthrown a Communist government. A socialist government isn’t too far from Communist government (see Venezuela as an example). I mean their fighting so that they can have their own personal stuff, not be forced to share it with others like they did under Communism. Mmmm….Democracy perhaps?
Finally, there’s your “Cowardice” line over regarding the Hiroshima pictures. What reality are you living in? Do you know anything about the TRUE history of the event? It was either drop the 2 atomic bombs or invade the Island nation where an estimated million US soldiers and several more tens of millions of Japanese soldiers and civilians would have died all because their Militaristic Government wanted to ‘defend their honor.’ Oh why am I wasting my time with this. The American government collects taxes from my bi-weekly paycheck. Sure, I’d like it if they took less then they do, but I understand and accept that taxes are nessacary. Now, the American Government takes a portion of this money and attempts to bring aide to help these Third World Countries. So you see Abernathy, I am helping these Third World Countries! Much more so then any socialist or communist government. Their governments are too busy attempting to hoard the wealth for their “leadership” and then spread out the remainder to their citizens so that all (except their leaders who are living high on the hog) can all live at the same level…which ain’t very high.
Do the European Countries give aide to the 3rd World? I mean I know they pay their United Nations “dues”, but the UN then turns around and totally boondoggles that money. So that doesn’t count. But does like England give aide to anywhere like America does? I’d be surprised.
Finally Abernathy, you’re missing the point here. America and every “1st World Country” has worked to be where they are and enjoy the life that they live. It wasn’t just handed to them on a silver platter. The nations as a people worked to develop their countries so that they and the generations that followed could enjoy such a lifestyle. And we continue to word to enjoy this lifestyle. I get up every weekday at 6:30AM to go to a job and I work for 9 hours so that I can enjoy my warm meal, my SUV, and my warm bed. 3rd World Countries who remain in their squaller don’t do this.
They either fight amongst themselves creating an unstable country, most Africa would be an example of this. Or they as a people are too lazy to work to better their lives, much of the America’s are like this. Or their people are too timid to fight their oppressor’s, several Asian countries are like this. If nothing else, I would die trying to make my nation a better place then to just sit on my butt and do nothing.
Besides which, as the past can show, just because you don’t drive an SUV or sleep on a manufactured matress, this doesn’t mean you are a poor, helpless 3rd World Society. People can still be happy and enjoy life without an SUV or a manufactured matress. They can enjoy the company of their friends and family living in teepee or a tent. They can till the ground for food or fish their waters.
Oh, and I almost forgot…yes, I am a capitalist. I like to create wealth. If you don’t like to create wealth, you don’t have the resources to which to help 3rd World nations.

There’s the old saying “Give a man a fish, he eats for a day. Teach a man to fish, and he eats for a lifetime.”
How does this relate to your 3rd World topic? If the UN gives food to a poor 3rd World Nation, they eat for that day. But if the nation can work together, they can provide their own food. You provide a stable nation and offer your nation as a labor source, and some capitalist will come in, build factories, and give those people jobs. They might not be making much at first, but give them time and they will build their people up.
China started off offering what was called “sweatshops” to International Manufacuting companies. And now, they have a burgeoning generation of workers enjoying cars, computers, limited internet access, and even cell phones. Their lives are just as comfortable as any average American or other “1st World” nation.

I wanted to say that the three pictures on this site are insulting and hurtfull to see.
the scientology-picture is the easiest one to give comment on: it’s a cult, it’s dangerous and it’s ‘beliefs’ are ridiculous and used to earn loads off money.
Then the picture with the line ‘che’s dead, get over it’: Ernesto ‘Che’ Guevara was the best thing that ever happend to the world. In the century of Hitler and Stalin, humanity needed proof that there are people like Guevara, people who will stand up against regimes that don’t give a shit about the people. forget messias and everyone that brings falls truths into this world, there the ones who caused millions of deaths in religious wars and genocides, willingly or not.
That brings me to the most offensive picture: it’s very easy to say that communism killed 100 million people but if you say something like that you proof to me that you dont understand the situation at all. people like Stalin ordered mass murders, yes but realise that after his regime, communists would distance themselfes from this, not because they knew Stalin greatly damaged the reputiation of communism but because it just wasn’t communism. Communists believe in a better world so they rejected Stalin, unlike fascists or neo-nazis who embrace people like Hitler or republicans and religious extremists in America who embrace people like Hitler. (yes, I compared Bush with Hitler and yes, I know that’s not very original or shocking anymore but ask yourself why).
Religious extremists, republicans that could control one of the most powerfull nations in the world and China that is destroying what’s left of the good name of communism with there extreme ‘moral’ laws affecting homosexuals and other groups and there capitalism that is like, always with capitalism, created to make the rich even richer.

Ummm, first off, that first picture doesn’t have anything to do with Scientology. It was a GLASS monument made in Venezuela to the murderous Che. Low and behold, the locals destroyed the GLASS momument. See, its a fitting that this was made of glass…kind of shows the mentality of Che’s followers…STUPID. Who the hell erects a glass monument? Its just begging to be broken. And so the locals broke the monument up.
Sorry Choppy, Communism can’t distantance itself from the likes of Mao, Stalin, Lenin, and Castro. Communism allowed these nutjobs to acheive their power and therefore must be associated with their actions. Ya see Heyveart, Communism doesn’t work. Its allowes its leaders to live like kings while the masses live all equally in crap and the leadership doesn’t answer to nobody. There are no checks nor balances on the government. “Absolute Power Corrupts Absolutely” The leadership of Communism doesn’t give a crap about the people anymore then anything else.
Dude, it is a proven fact that Communism is BULLSHITTE! The entire Soviet Bloc (the USSR and its Eastern European nations) fell because COMMUNISM DOESN’T WORK. Until China allowed limited forms of capitalism, their people were living in mud huts growing rice struggling everyday just to survive. Eventually, the Capitalists in China will overthrow the Communist regime…its only a matter of time.
Communism is truely beleived in by 1 type of person: The ignorant who are lazy and think that life should be fair. Sorry chops, but LIFE ISN’T FAIR…GET OVER IT. The rich are rich because they were smarter and willing to work harder then the rest of the people. In Comunism, the same is true too. The smarter and more ruthless ones will choose to join the party leadership and will get richer while the poor get poorer. Sorry son, fact of life.
My father grew up in a moderate middle-class family from a small town. He was one of 4 boys. He became a millionare while his 3 brothers did not. He got there because he worked harder then the others and he was smart enough to work harder in field that allowed him to make more money. Thats the key there…he was smart enough to choose to work in a specific field. You don’t get to be a millionaire digging ditches. You can work as hard as you want, but it won’t happen. But its your own damn fault if you’re digging ditches. I could follow in my father’s footsteps and become a millionaire too…but the truth is, I don’t want to work that hard and sacrifice as much as he did. So I’ll be content with what I earn for myself. If somebody wants to bust their tail or is smart enough to come up with a widget that makes money, more power to them…they earned it.
Oh, and your man “Che” ain’t nothing. Just like Stalin and the others, he was a nutjob. He ordered the deaths of thousands without a fair and just hearing. President Bush estabilshed Camp Gitmo to detain the terrorist fighters. And eventually, they will be released to live a life somewhere. Che would have had them all shot in a matter of days after their capture. Yeah, a real hero of the people there. Che attempted to kill his enemies. Modern Christians merely decry what they preceive as sinners per their religon, they don’t try to kill them.
Funny thing, you Europeans didn’t like Ronald Reagan too much. Abraham Lincoln wasn’t exactly beloved during America’s Civil War either. Yet they both defeated their enemies, made the world a better place, and are considered great men. The same will be said of President George W. Bush some day. Count on it.
